Following the masterpiece “Elegant Gypsy,” Al Di Meola’s third solo album presented a challenging endeavor, which I consider quite successful. While it didn’t quite reach the same level of quality as “Elegant Gypsy,” it came remarkably close. Di Meola’s highly technical and incredibly fast guitar skills are beautifully complemented by his backing band, who maintain the same intense and relentless pace. As is typical in Di Meola’s albums, you can anticipate a strong Spanish influence in the realm of jazz-rock. While it may not reach masterpiece status, this album is excellent, and aspiring guitarists and musicians should give it a listen to appreciate the outstanding skills showcased by all the musicians involved.
