Alan Roberts and Dougie MacLean’s album, ‘Caledonia’, was recorded in 1977 and first released in 1978. The album was produced by Nigel Pegrum and engineered by Roy Neve and Keith Herd, and also features Nigel Pegrum on percussion and Jon Gillaspie on synthesizer. Dougie MacLean, a Scottish singer-songwriter, wrote the title song ‘Caledonia’ in less than 10 minutes on a beach in Brittany, France, feeling homesick for Scotland. The song has become the most popular of all MacLean’s recordings and has been covered by many artists, as well as becoming known as Scotland’s “unofficial” national anthem.
