Après l’audacieux “Things Have Got to Change”, Shepp dévoile “Attica Blues”, un projet extraordinaire laissant peu de place au free jazz. Le titre éponyme est une fusion grandiose de funk tendu, rivalisant avec Graham Central Station. “Ballad for a Child” exprime une sensibilité soul.
