Over a period of five long years, Tom Scholz, while working as a design engineer for Polaroid, famously led a dual life during the making of his masterpiece. He would lock himself away in his home studio in Boston during his free time, describing it as his “escape from the world.” Despite this, the music he created in his basement studio would go on to attract millions of listeners. All but one track of Boston’s debut album was crafted by Scholz himself, resulting in a classic and landmark album that was immaculately produced and full of great songs. Some notable tracks include “Peace of Mind,” “Smokin’,” the epic “Foreplay/Long Time,” and the greatest of all, “More Than A Feeling,” which is considered Boston’s definitive statement and one of the most beautiful rock songs ever written.
