Bulldog was a spinoff of the Rascals that formed in 1971, consisting of Gene Cornish, Dino Danelli, Billy Hocher, John Turi, and Eric Thorngren. They released their self-titled debut album with Decca Records but it was not successful due to the lack of hooks and strange pairing of vocals with the material. In 1974, they signed with Neil Bogart’s Buddah Records and released “Smasher”. This album showed a tighter and more elaborate sound, but it was virtually ignored and did not chart. Despite being an improvement over their first album, Bulldog disbanded by early 1975.
