Released in 1969, “Catherine Ribeiro + 2 Bis” created interesting sparks in an already turbulent time. The two-headed eagle, Catherine Ribeiro (vocals) and Patrice Moullet (cosmophone and guitar), returned to the studio for the second time and established the name Catherine Ribeiro + Alpes, in which the soloist found herself surrounded by a chain of music. The folk structure gradually loses its thickness on this second journey. The album contains one of the most emotionally challenging tracks in French rock. The final track, “Poème Non Epique,” is impossible to climb easily after a first attempt and is the Mont Blanc of the album. Using a romantic breakup as a pretext, Catherine Ribeiro achieves a vocal feat whose only equivalent could be Peter Hammill or Jacques Brel. This second album establishes Catherine Ribeiro + Alpes by its eclecticism, absence of commercial concessions, and willingness to explore new territories. This discographic UFO remains undiminished by the ravages of time, even today.
