In 1973, a significant turning point in Christophe’s career emerged. Following his self-titled album, the former 1960s star continued with relative artistic freedom, expressing his love for the Anglo-Saxon rock music that shaped his youth. To achieve this, he assembled a talented backing band, including Dominique Perrier on keyboards, Roger Rizzitelli on drums, Bernard Paganotti on bass, and Patrick Tison on guitar. Remarkably, the lyrics were penned by none other than Jean-Michel Jarre, now known as an electronic music giant. This collaboration resulted in “Les paradis perdus,” which could be considered Christophe’s third studio album, standing as a pinnacle of French music. The album achieved the unthinkable, seamlessly blending rock’s explosiveness with the beauty of the French language. Notable tracks like “Emporte-moi” and the title track “Les paradis perdus” showcased the singer’s remarkable talent, while other songs, such as “Mama,” “Du pain et du laurier,” and “Le temps de vivre,” added depth to the album’s appeal.
