In the late 1970s, there were notable solo efforts, particularly from Gilmour and Wright, that were highly regarded. Gilmour’s solo album was exceptional, bearing similarities to the ‘Animals’ era and showcasing his mastery of the craft. While Gilmour’s guitar work was impressive throughout, the standout track for me was the instrumental piece ‘Mihalis’, which takes some time to capture your attention but once it does, it’s impossible to ignore. In addition, ‘There’s no way out of here’ highlighted Gilmour’s strong vocal abilities. The album as a whole was impressive, with other highlights including the collaboration with Roy Harper on ‘Short and Sweet’ and the instrumental piece ‘Raise my Rent’. If you have access to a top-notch sound system, I highly recommend turning up the volume and letting Gilmour’s guitar work on ‘Raise my Rent’ do the talking.
