Dr. Feelgood’s third LP, Stupidity, offered a concise and tough sound that contrasted with the soft rock prevalent in California. With Lee Brilleaux’s vocals and Wilko Johnson’s guitar lines, the album was the first live album to reach number one in the UK charts in its first week in 1976. The emergence of punk music further cemented the band’s influence on the youth of the nation, including members of The Buzzcocks, The Clash, and The Damned. Melody Maker described the album as “aural GBH.”
