Eliane Pronost made her first appearance in 1951 at Bleun Brug de Plouguereau, which had set up its stage in the open air by the sea and the rocks. Immediately, her deep voice with its rich and warm accent managed to resonate with the crowd, consisting of peasants, fishermen, seaweed harvesters, as well as townspeople from Lannilis and Lesneven—her hometown during her childhood and youth. The melodies on this record are deeply rooted in folk tradition, with some more recent compositions by Jef Le Penven and Polig Montjarret. As for the lyrics, the names of Jean-Pierre Calloch and Potr Treoure are joined by Pierre Jakez Helias. And these eight selected tracks, chosen by Eliane Pronost and Andrew Mahoux, serve as testimonies to the endearing and thoroughly contemporary essence of Celtic music.
