Super rare Italian prog/jazz, 1975 original italian pressing.

Après avoir évolué du psychédélique Flea On The Honey, le groupe a encore changé de nom pour devenir l’impressionnant ensemble jazz-rock Etna. Leur unique album, sorti près de trois ans après Topi O Uomi, présentait un style plus en phase avec le premier album de Nova qu’avec les influences de Canterbury ou de Nucleus observées chez d’autres groupes italiens. Malgré leurs expérimentations, le son jazz-rock d’Etna est réparti de manière équilibrée parmi le quatuor, avec le piano électrique de Marangolo ajoutant une présence significative. Les morceaux marquants incluent le “Across The Indian Ocean” inspiré par Weather Report et le contrasté “Golden Idol”. L’album, sorti sous le label Catoca, a marqué un chapitre notable dans l’évolution du groupe.

After evolving from the psychedelic Flea On The Honey to the guitar-centric Flea, the band rebranded once more as the impressive jazz-rock outfit Etna. Their sole album, released almost three years after Topi O Uomi, showcased a style more aligned with the initial Nova album than the Canterbury or Nucleus influences seen in other Italian bands. Despite their experimentation, Etna’s jazz-rock sound is evenly distributed among the quartet, with Marangolo’s electric piano adding a significant presence. Standout tracks include the Weather Report-inspired “Across The Indian Ocean” and the contrasting “Golden Idol.” The album, released on the Catoca label, marked a notable chapter in the band’s evolution.
