Super rare ! Original french 1978 pressing. Superb copy.

‘Canto Aberto’ is the only album by Brazilian singer-songwriter Everaldo ‘Évé’ Marcial. Born in São Paulo in the 1950s, Évé fled the Brazilian dictatorship in 1974 and recorded this album in France. Despite its release on the Free Lance label, it didn’t achieve the desired success, leading Évé to quit music and relocate to the US. ‘Canto Aberto’ features a blend of MPB, samba, freeform songwriting, and folk-style Brazilian protest songs, akin to artists like Egberto Gismonti and Milton Nascimento. Évé’s unique voice adds a haunting quality to the music, making it a captivating, slowly unfolding gem worth discovering.
