Dans les années 60, les groupes de rock anglais revisitent les morceaux des bluesmen américains. Cream, avec “Spoonful” sur Wheels Of Fire, introduit une nouvelle génération à Howlin’ Wolf. Eric Clapton enregistre avec Wolf, accompagné de membres des Rolling Stones et de Klaus Voorman et Richie (Ringo Starr). Les sessions donnent l’album crucial The London Howlin’ Wolf Sessions, créant un lien entre le blues traditionnel et le British Blues Boom. In the late ’60s, English rock bands began covering songs by American bluesmen, adapting them to contemporary tastes. Cream’s rendition of “Spoonful” on Wheels Of Fire, especially in its live version, introduced Howlin’ Wolf to a new audience. When producer Norman Dayron approached Eric Clapton to record with the blues legend, Clapton enlisted members of the Rolling Stones along with Klaus Voorman and Richie (Ringo Starr). These sessions resulted in the pivotal album “The London Howlin’ Wolf Sessions,” bridging the gap between traditional blues and the British Blues Boom. The album features dynamic interpretations of Wolf’s classics, creating a connection between the old blues masters and the emerging English generation.
