With Slug Line the Costello comparisons are evident but only as one ingredient among others. Equally there are traces of Graham Parker and Nick Lowe, especially with tracks like “Sharon’s Got A Drugstore”, “(No More) Dancin’ In The Street” and “Madonna Road”. While the final track “Washable Ink” points the direction to the artist Hiatt will eventually become.
