Le deuxième album de cet ensemble, porté par la superbe voix d’Annick Le Puil, s’inspire de la musique traditionnelle du Pays Pourlet (autour de Guémené Sur Scorff) en Bretagne. Il existe peu de témoignages du renouveau folklorique dans le Morbihan, rendant cet album intéressant à bien des égards. Les harmonies vocales sont déjà sublimes, et le jeu de flûte enchanteur, mais c’est l’ajout du violon qui élève vraiment l’album. Le point culminant est sans aucun doute la pièce instrumentale “Trouz E ker”, où les flûtes virevoltent autour du violon et de la guitare, mettant en valeur le talent musical du groupe. Pourtant, on ne peut s’empêcher de se détendre en écoutant “Me ‘Yay A-Walc’h”, où la voix d’Annick Le Puil se mesure facilement à ses homologues folkloriques anglais. Pour information, “Kadig” fait référence aux manteaux traditionnels portés par les récolteurs de goémon en Finistère.

The second album from this ensemble, led by the superb voice of Annick Le Puil, draws from the traditional music of the Pays Pourlet (around Guémené Sur Scorff) in Brittany. There aren’t many testimonies of folk revival from Morbihan, making this album interesting on multiple fronts. The vocal harmonies are already sublime, and the flute playing enchanting, but it’s the addition of the violin that truly elevates the album. The highlight is undoubtedly the instrumental piece “Trouz E ker,” where the flutes swirl around the violin and guitar, showcasing the musical prowess of the group. Yet, one can’t help but relax to “Me ‘Yay A-Walc’h,” where Annick Le Puil’s voice easily holds its own against her English folk counterparts. For context, “Kadig” refers to the traditional coats worn by seaweed harvesters in Finistère.
