Orquesta Broadway’s history traces back to the early 1960s when Cuban artists settled in New York, forming a vibrant musical group around the Zervigon brothers and Roberto Torres. This ensemble, initially based on Cuban salsa, embraced the charanga style with its distinctive mix of string and wind instruments alongside percussion. From 1963 to 1987, the group recorded an impressive twenty-two albums, reflecting its popularity. Despite sporadic later activities, Orquesta Broadway’s legacy remains as a testament to their dynamic presence in the music scene.
