Depuis les Bluebelles dans les années 1960, Patti Labelle a été une figure importante de la scène musicale. Malgré son succès avec Labelle au début des années 1970, sa carrière solo a eu du mal à prendre de l’ampleur. En signant avec Philadelphia International en 1981, elle a rejoint une liste d’artistes comprenant seulement deux noms : Labelle et The O’Jays. Alors que certaines chansons de son album capturaient le son classique et mature du label, d’autres étaient en dessous. Alors que des ballades comme “Love, Need and Want You” mettaient en valeur sa puissance vocale, des morceaux dance comme “Body Language” et “I’ll Never Give Up” manquaient d’éclat. Bien que “I’m in Love Again” bénéficiait d’une production solide et de bonnes chansons, l’album souffrait de remplissage, l’empêchant d’atteindre son plein potentiel.
