Partageant un amour commun pour la musique électronique et s’inspirant du Krautrock allemand, OMD et HUMAN LEAGUE, ils ont forgé leur identité. Après cinq ans de travail, le duo a signé avec Parlophone pour leur premier album en 1986. Malgré la fin de la new wave, “West End Girls” a brillamment introduit des éléments hip hop et disco à la synth-pop, devenant un succès mondial. Suivi de près par des titres comme “Love Comes Quickly” et “Opportunities”, le groupe s’est imposé comme un pilier de la scène musicale des années 80, marquant l’histoire avec des classiques intemporels comme “Suburbia”.

The chance encounter between Londoners Neil Tennant, who had just bought a Korg synth, and Chris Lowe gave birth to the musical duo Pet Shop Boys. Sharing a common love for electronic music and drawing inspiration from German Krautrock, OMD, and Human League, they forged their identity. After five years of work, the duo signed with Parlophone for their debut album in 1986. Despite the decline of new wave, “West End Girls” brilliantly introduced hip hop and disco elements to synth-pop, becoming a global success. Followed closely by tracks like “Love Comes Quickly” and “Opportunities,” the group established itself as a pillar of the 1980s music scene, leaving a lasting mark with timeless classics like “Suburbia.”
