In 1967, Michel Colombier and Pierre Henry composed the ‘Messe pour le temps présent’, a series of dances written for a ballet by Maurice Béjart created at the Avignon Festival. The album, which was released the same year, was a huge success. To write this Messe, Pierre Henry enlisted the help of Michel Colombier, a composer who was primarily known for his work in film music and pop music. Colombier wrote certain instrumental parts, while Pierre Henry inserted electroacoustic sounds, as he did for the piece ‘Psyche Rock’, which remains very famous, particularly among electronic music enthusiasts.
