More was considered more of a side project than a part of Pink Floyd’s transitional period. Unfortunately, the movie did not do well and was criticized as just another typical “let’s do drugs because we’re hippies” film from the 60s and 70s. The director requested Pink Floyd to create a soundtrack that was unlike their usual style, and they agreed to the task despite the short amount of time given to them. The result was an album that was half-instrumental and most of the instrumentals were so specifically tailored for the movie that they did not have strong standalone appeal.
