In 1996, Kyuss released their final work, featuring a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Into the Void,” encapsulating their stoner-rock essence that gained respect from celebrity admirers. Post-breakup, ex-Kyuss members Josh Homme and Alfredo Hernandez formed Queens of the Stone Age, delivering more melodic, loose-limbed rock compared to Kyuss’ heaviness. Their self-titled 1998 album, primarily a two-man effort by Homme and Hernandez, showcased one-chord rave-ups and Homme’s emerging singing prowess. The remastered reissue integrates bonus tracks seamlessly, enhancing the album’s flow and revealing the band’s evolution from experimental roots to refined hard-rock.
