“Prologue” marked the turning point for Renaissance, steering them away from a lackluster period (illustrated by “Illusion,” only released in one country) and towards the creation of a series of prog masterpieces during the glorious ’70s. Motivated by this opportunity, the band’s circle, including management, decided to reform the group with new members while retaining the iconic name. Amid a series of personnel changes, singer Annie Haslam and John Tout remained constant, joined by Jon Camp on bass and Terrence Sullivan on drums. The album’s focus on original compositions, including the memorable “Prologue,” showcased the band’s vitality and Annie Haslam’s enchanting vocals. Despite the record’s strong quality, it doesn’t quite reach the status of Renaissance’s later masterpieces.
