Recorded at São Paulo’s Estúdio Sigla and produced by Rita Lee and Roberto de Carvalho, the album, originally released by Som Livre and EMI, then reissued by Universal Music, marked a pivotal moment following the triumph of her previous release. While still pregnant and fresh from touring her last album, Rita Lee embarked on the creation of “Saúde,” heavily influenced by New Wave and pop music, as reflected in the album’s tracks. Notably, the album’s title track presented a danceable rock number with an extended instrumental intro, captivating guitar riff, and electronic drums, becoming a standout hit in her career. The album’s dynamic continued with tracks like “Tatibitati,” which boasted an infectious rhythm and a characteristic Rita Lee touch in its lyrics. The album’s A-side concluded with the rebellious yet infectious “Tititi (Galinhagem),” gaining prominence later through a cover by the band Metrô for a Brazilian soap opera. The B-side featured more of Rita Lee’s hits, including the well-known “Banho de Espuma,” which underwent lyric changes due to censorship, and “Atlântida,” a psychedelic-flavored favorite of the artist. The album’s enduring success, with over 400,000 copies sold in a short span, solidified Rita Lee’s status as a prominent figure in Brazilian music history, particularly for her contributions to soap opera soundtracks.
