En 1972, “Pile Diver” de Status Quo a marqué un virage réussi mais audacieux, malgré le scepticisme initial de leur maison de disques. Juste un an plus tard, leur album à la pochette noire intrigante est devenu leur best-seller en Angleterre et leur premier numéro un des charts. Le single “Caroline” a propulsé leur renommée, incarnant leur style de boogie rock signature avec son rythme entraînant et sa mélodie mémorable. Bien que “Caroline” se démarque comme le seul single, des titres comme “Roll Over Lay Down” ont montré un crescendo agressif peu courant pour le groupe.
