Brian Setzer, the vocalist and guitarist of the Stray Cats, was born in 1959, a year that saw the decline of early rock ‘n’ roll stars like Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, and Eddie Cochran. Despite this, rockabilly’s influence persisted, finding a place in subsequent generations’ music. In the early 1980s, rockabilly saw a revival led by Setzer and his bandmates from Long Island. The Stray Cats’ journey took them to London, where their authentic rockabilly sound and appearance found enthusiastic British fans.
