In 1984, the Alan Parsons Project released two albums. Following the disappointing “Ammonia Avenue,” fans of the Project were initially concerned about the swift release of “Vulture Culture.” However, this album, while undeniably pop and lacking in depth, is impressively crafted as always. It features catchy tracks like the opener “Let’s Talk About Me,” showcasing inventive choruses, sweet ballads such as “Days Are Numbers” and “The Same Old Sun,” commercially oriented songs like “Vulture Culture” and “Somebody Out There,” though some tracks might feel reminiscent of previous works. The instrumental “Hawkeye” adds a quirky touch, akin to Madness-style ska. Despite some familiarity, the album maintains a high level of execution.
