In 1989, UB40 released “Labour Of Love II” as a follow-up to their successful album “Labour Of Love” (1983), which had topped the UK charts. This second edition continued their trend of covering older, lesser-known reggae tracks with a UB40 twist. The album includes classics like “Kingston Town,” “Here I Am (Come and Take Me),” and “The Way You Do the Things You Do.” While commercial success was a factor, UB40’s passion for rejuvenating old songs with a modern touch shines through, even though their interpretations lack a bit of emotional depth. Despite this, the album was a commercial hit.
