L’album, conçu pendant l’hiver 1974 et enregistré avec les membres du groupe rock Alice dirigé par le guitariste Alain Suzan, marque le début du succès de William Sheller en tant que chanteur. Fusionnant rock et classique, Sheller a écrit et interprété toutes les chansons, joué divers instruments et assuré la co-direction musicale avec Suzan. Malgré le triomphe de “Rock’n’dollars”, une critique sarcastique du monde de la musique commerciale, Sheller espérait promouvoir des chansons plus élaborées telles que “Oncle Arthur et moi” ou “Savez-vous ?”. Cependant, il s’est retrouvé coincé dans l’étiquette de “chanteur fantaisiste” malgré ses ambitions artistiques plus profondes.
The album, conceived during the winter of 1974 and recorded with the members of the rock band Alice led by guitarist Alain Suzan, marked the beginning of William Sheller’s success as a singer. Blending rock and classical music, Sheller wrote and performed all the songs, played various instruments, and co-directed the music with Suzan. Despite the triumph of “Rock’n’dollars,” a sarcastic critique of the commercial music world, Sheller hoped to promote more sophisticated songs such as “Oncle Arthur et moi” or “Savez-vous ?”. However, he found himself stuck in the label of “fanciful singer” despite his deeper artistic ambitions.
