John Dwyer, a highly productive artist with a career spanning two decades and multiple name changes, returns to his original project, OCS, now known as Oh Sees (formerly Thee Oh Sees), releasing their 20th album titled “Memory of a Cut Off Head.” This release is noteworthy not only for its place in their extensive discography but also as the 100th title on Dwyer’s Castle Face Records. In 2017 alone, Dwyer has released three albums, including “Bunker Funk” under the name Damaged Bug and “Orc.” “Memory of a Cut Off Head” sees Oh Sees delving back into their mellower roots, incorporating acoustic instruments and subtle psych-pop elements, a departure from their recent garage-rock psychedelia. The album features contributions from various artists, including Patrick Mullins on the singing saw, Heather Lockie and Mikal Cronin on string and horn arrangements, and Brigid Dawson’s distinctive vocals, adding depth to the project’s artistic evolution.
