Publié en février 1981, “Difficult To Cure” a marqué un tournant pour Rainbow. Bien que la formation ayant enregistré l’album précédent soit restée intacte, le batteur Cozy Powell a quitté le groupe en raison de son insatisfaction envers une direction plus commerciale. Il a rejoint le MSG de Michael Schenker, entraînant avec lui le chanteur Graham Bonnet. Malgré la perte du jeu de batterie puissant de Powell et du timbre vocal de Bonnet, l’album, désormais avec Joe Lynn Turner et Bobby Rondinelli, a présenté un virage vers un son AOR plus mélodique. Produit par Roger Glover et enregistré par Flemming Rasmussen, l’album est considéré comme un classique du Hard Rock, marquant une rupture avec l’ère précédente de Dio et établissant un Rainbow nouveau, plus commercial mais tout aussi captivant et influent.

Published in February 1981, “Difficult To Cure” marked a pivotal moment for Rainbow. While the lineup that recorded the previous album remained intact, drummer Cozy Powell left due to dissatisfaction with the more commercial direction. He joined Michael Schenker’s MSG, taking singer Graham Bonnet along. Despite losing Powell’s powerful drumming and Bonnet’s vocals, the album, now featuring Joe Lynn Turner and Bobby Rondinelli, showcased a shift towards a more melodic AOR sound.
