In 1983, Michael Schenker Group (MSG) underwent lineup changes, with Gary Barden returning as the vocalist alongside Derek St. Holmes briefly. The resulting album, “Built To Destroy,” showcased Schenker’s guitar virtuosity and contained some classic tracks like “The Dogs of War,” “Captain Nemo,” and “Red Sky.” However, the album felt somewhat disjointed, and Barden would soon leave MSG. Despite its quirks, “Built To Destroy” highlighted Schenker’s exceptional talent, paving the way for future collaborations with Robin McAuley and others, although it wasn’t as essential as his earlier work.
