Si “Powerage” fut l’album le plus sous-estimé de la période Bon Scott, “Flick Of The Switch” est probablement l’album de l’ère Brian Johnson qui nécessite le plus d’être redécouvert. Si cet album n’a pas reçu l’accueil qu’il méritait à l’époque, il s’agit plus d’une question de circonstances que des qualités intrinsèques de l’album. AC/DC a décidé de revenir à plus de simplicité, avec une pochette minimaliste, un son brut, un mixage équilibré, et des compositions efficaces. Bien que le jeu de Phil Rudd puisse sembler fatigué, il est temps de réhabiliter cet album et de lui rendre la place qu’il mérite dans la discographie du groupe.

If “Powerage” was the most underestimated album of the Bon Scott era, “Flick Of The Switch” is probably the most underrated album of the Brian Johnson era, requiring more rehabilitation. If this album didn’t receive the recognition it deserved at the time, it’s more due to circumstances than the album’s intrinsic qualities. AC/DC decided to return to simplicity, with a minimalist album cover, a raw sound, balanced mixing, and efficient compositions. Although Phil Rudd’s playing may seem fatigued, it’s high time to reevaluate this album and give it the place it deserves in the band’s discography.
